Interactive exploded diagram parts finder
An interactive parts-diagram tool transforms static engineering schematics into clickable, self-service ordering visualisations linked directly to an online product catalogue.
Built for equipment customers and support staff at an industrial equipment business who need to identify and procure replacement components accurately.
Unlike static PDF drawings that require manual interpretation by experienced engineers, this tool converts complex schematics into interactive diagrams where users can drill down through sub-assemblies and view live stock details directly on the page.
The problem
Component data was trapped in static, multi-page engineering PDFs that required specialist technical staff to manually search, interpret, and cross-reference against parts tables. This manual lookup created support bottlenecks, delayed customer quotes, and prevented direct online purchasing. Because drawings existed only as disconnected files, part identification could not scale with enquiry volume.
The solution
An automated extraction workflow ingests assembly PDFs, extracts callouts and parts tables, and cleans drawing layouts into clear visual diagrams. Administrators verify identified hotspots, link components to catalogue inventory, and connect major assemblies to nested sub-assembly drawings. The resulting interactive diagrams are embedded onto product detail pages to allow instant cart addition or structured enquiry submission.
The goal
Enable customers to self-identify and order replacement components in minutes by converting static equipment drawings into interactive, searchable visual catalogues.
