Pricing and product information system
A structured web application that replaces a sprawling spreadsheet to deliver fast, reliable abrasives pricing, packaging specifications, and account-specific terms.
Built for sales, customer service, and operations teams at an industrial equipment business who need quick, authoritative answers on blasting media pricing, regional availability, and customer agreements.
Unlike the multi-tab spreadsheet it replaces, the application normalizes complex pricing tables into a single searchable interface with clear version control, role-based visibility, and distinct separation between current, draft, and historical rates.
The problem
Abrasives pricing and product data were previously stored in a massive workbook with dozens of inconsistent worksheets, draft calculations, and embedded notes. Staff frequently struggled to identify whether a price was current or customer-specific, leading to quoting delays and risks of applying outdated terms. Additionally, sensitive cost and margin details could not be restricted by user role within the shared spreadsheet.
The solution
The legacy workbook was restructured into a normalized relational database that clearly differentiates active rates from draft and expired records. A streamlined web front end was developed to allow instant searching by product, location, packaging, or customer account, backed by controlled approval workflows for updates.
The goal
Provide internal teams with a single, reliable source of truth for abrasives pricing and product specifications.
